 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The most difficult water crossings on this route are near the bottom of Carter Dome Trail. I managed to hop across all of them, but after a good bit of rain, some wading might be necessary. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Imp Trail has some large blowdowns you can easily duck under. Other trails are mostly clear of blowdowns. The bottom of Carter Dome Trail is wet. There's running water on trail in places. It's overdue for some drainage work. |

It was cool and windy enough to deter bugs. Perfect conditions. |

 | Comments: |
My route was up the southern half of Imp Trail, up North Carter Trail, south on Carter-Moriah Trail to Zeta Pass, then down Carter Dome Trail and out via Nineteen Mile Brook Trail. (If you haven't been to the Imp Face ledges before, I recommend taking the northern half of Imp Trail. There are great views from the ledges and it's roughly the same mileage.)
Middle Carter has some outstanding views of the Presidential Range and the Wild River Wilderness. South Carter has some comparatively restricted views. Otherwise, the highlight of this hike was the relatively easy ridge walk above 4000 feet. There's lots of rhodora and other flowers blooming in places. |
