 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at a pulloff/minor 100ft road for a log yard on Cedar Stream Road, between Wardens Road and Shehan Pond Road, generally due north of the summit (slightly NNW). Cedar Stream Road is great condition with the exception of stretch between mile 4.5 and 6.1. At/around 6.0 there is a very bad washout that I was able to clear with a Crosstrek, but I was darn close to bottoming out. Thankfully, I skipped breakfast. Dead Diamond Loop Road is cruiser, too. |

A Day in the forest was had. Let me tell you, if you enjoy hobble bush, waist high ferns, intermixed with logging cuts, you shouldn't walk, you should run to this peak. You're going to love it. If you're like most people groups doing this, put out your sacrificial friend to find all the blow downs hidden in the ferns for you. We where able to skirt the logging cut to the west on the way out which was much better but this being the third of the day was mentally taxing. It's also 1100 vert in 1.1 miles one way, so that may have been why. It was just a mix of hobblebush and ferns that never seemed to end. If this was the first peak of the day it probably would have been more enjoyable. Still for the ~2.1 (track shut off a bit) we still covered it in about 90 minutes, so I guess it couldn't have been that terrible. |
