 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The lot at rte 16 and Stony Brook Rd had only 1-2 other vehicles at 8am, maybe a few more at 4pm. The large puddle blocking most of the entry to the lot, mentioned in a recent trip report here, was still a muddy mess, but it doesn't really impede traffic over it. Tires will spatter some dirty water up onto a car. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Easy rock hops over the several streams. Only the first is of any significance most of the time, and there wasn't a lot of water flowing there. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There were a number of logs on the trail that we noticed on the ascent, either easy step-overs and a couple easy duck unders. On the descent, after we passed the lowest crossing we encountered a tree down across the trail, blocking it with numerous small branches. This was not there on the ascent. It appeared that a dead, barkless tree may have been supporting something, then failed totally. It looked like a small saw and 15-20 minutes could take out the mess. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
None, but most of this route is fairly easy going for a dog. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Down low we encountered a few black flies. I ingested one. One of our crew suffered a bee sting a bit below the SB/CM junction. |

 | Comments: |
Another nice OTHH outing, on a nice sunny day. It was a tad cool to start, but nothing that warranted anything over a tee shirt and shorts. The descent was notably warmer. The views of surrounding mountains, like the northern presidential range, was obscured by a haze. |
