Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, July 13, 2026
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There were about 6 cars in the Liberty Springs parking lot when I started with lots of room for more. When I returned there were a few more but not many.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy rock hops. There is water at the tentsite as well. I filtered at the largest stream crossing which was flowing nicely.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nothing notable.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Another BEST DAY EVER because I got another Darby fix! That makes 3 times in a week. :) These trails are in great shape for dogs. There is not much water available once you cross the little streams so bring extra.
Bugs
Bugs: Bugs? What bugs? Didn't even need bug spray.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There is a black bandana hanging from a tree just a little ways up on Liberty Springs trail once you pass the junction for the Flume Slide turn off. There was also a pretty fancy water bottle that seemed to have orange juice in it, near the top of Flume. I left both where they were.

Comments
Comments: I knew the weather was going to be good so I wanted to knock out something that had views and BOYOHBOY did I get them. The trails were pretty quiet on the way up. I think I only saw about 6 people. The trails are mostly dry which made the rocks up the steeps on Liberty Springs no big deal. The spots that have running water on the trail, still have running water on the trail but it not deep so even my feet stayed dry. The few muddy sections are supportive and not squelchy. Franconia Ridge is dreamy. I love that stretch as it putters along and the conditions made for fast travel over and back from Flume. It was great to bump into Eric again. That made 3/3 hikes where we have seen each other in the last week. Stellar day for sure! Just wow!
