Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Plenty of rocks for the brook crossings on the Carter Dome Trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One evergreen across the North Carter Trail at about 1.5 - 2' above ground. Easy to step over. A few tree falls on the Carter Dome Trail that are easy to step over. A few trees cross over the Carter Dome Trail at a height that causes no problems at this time of year. May be an obstacle in the winter. The large branches of another tree have been cut to permit easy passage. Some eroded trail sections on the North Carter Trail (not new). Not difficult to walk through. Old wash outs on the Carter Dome Trail are avoided by short bypass paths. Most of the bog bridges on the Carter-Moriah Trail are in good condition. Occasionally there is a missing or worn plank. The bog bridges in the vicinity of the North Carter Trail junction are deteriorated. As noted by Uki's report, the Carter-Moriah Trail is crowded by evergreen boughs on both sides of South Carter. The branches were dry today.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs
Bugs
Bugs: Not many. Breeze may have limited the insects.

Comments
Comments: Hiked north on the side of route 16 and up Camp Dodge Road to the old forest road that leads to Imp Trail. There is a small pile of sticks at the edge of the Imp Trail, so hikers won't inadvertently walk down the old forest road to Camp Dodge.
The trails were generally dry. One can skirt the small wet area on the Imp Trail on a beaten down path. There is one short section of the North Carter Trail with shallow running water. It is easy to get through this section.
There are views of the Wild River Valley on short spur paths at both summits. The best views are from the open ledges north of Middle Carter and a ledge between the peaks.
Lots of hikers out today enjoying the pleasant weather. Met may AT thru hikers with many of them from ME & NH. One woman finished the NH 48 4K today. Nice to talk with Hiker Ed today. Met a group heading to the hut with one woman carrying a ukulele.
