Parking/Access Road Notes

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The water level in the brooks is low. Easy to cross on rocks>
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No obstructions on the trails. There are a few trees high overhead across the trails that cause no problem at this time of year. The trail blaze on the tree is just a trace at the second brook crossing on the Pine Bend Trail. A new yellow blaze on this tree would help descending hikers identify the turn off the old forest road to cross the brook. There are a few branches across the old road to discourage hikers from venturing away from the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs. Some may require assistance on the steeper ledges high up on the Pine Bend Brook Trail (although side paths may allow dogs to easily get by these ledges)
Bugs
Bugs: Not many

Comments
Comments: The trails were mostly dry. Most of the mud spots have rocks to step on.
The rocks near the top of the brook valley are helter-skelter with moss in places. This stretch can be slippery when wet. Dry today.
The views are restricted. The tree growth is making the views more obstructed every year. The best views are to Mt Chocorua and Mt Passaconaway and at another spot on Middle Tripyramid there is a view on Mt Tecumseh and Mt Osceola.
Lots of hikers out today using all approaches (Pine Bend, Sabbaday, Slide, Sleeper).
