 | Trails: |
York Pond Trail, Bunnell Notch Trail, Kilkenny Ridge Trail |
 | Date of Hike: |
Wednesday, August 26, 2026 |
 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There were two vehicles before us at the hatchery space at 8am, a few more others at 3pm. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The main crossing, about a mile in, had low flow, due to generally dry summer, so the crossing was an easy rock hop, mostly just walking along. The minor drainage flows above that were similarly easy. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trails are generally in good shape. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
None seen, but the route is fine for any good trail dog. Not much water above the Kilkenny Ridge junction. |
 | Bugs: |
None all day, until we got back to the cars, but not many even then. |
 | Lost and Found: |
At the end, I found a white cap near the short bridge just in from the car. I left it on the York Pond Trail sign. It's not a "high end" cap. |

 | Comments: |
Another good OTHH outing. A couple of us went counterclockwise up Unknown Pond, Horn, Bulge, Cabot, down. Another pair of us, going clockwise, continued past Cabot to bag the Horn. We met a pair of gentlemen at the cabin, one of whom just (finally) finished his 48. |
