 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Magalloway Road, left on Smith Brook Road for 6.7 miles, left on Moose Brook Trail 0.3 miles. Parked at gate SE of Beaman Hill. For Prospect Mountain (Trestle Brook), drove back to Smith Brook Road then left on Trestle Brook Road, then right to continue on Trestle Brook Road. Parked at pull off before culvert. Culvert had a deep divot so we did not risk driving over it for fear of scraping the bottom of our mid-clearance vehicle. Short 0.2 mile walk to start of bushwhack south of Prospect Mountain. For Norton Pool Peak, we drove back on Trestle Brook Road, and continued straight on to Rump Mountain Trail. Parked at large pull off on left east of the Norton Pool Peak. All roads were passable with mid-clearance SUV (Kia Sportage). |

Beaman Hill: Started by navigating through logging slash at landing. Followed overgrown logging road (hobblebush, raspberry bushes, grass) and moose herd path. Had to search for summit jar which was on western corner of the peak. Replaced pencils and plastic bag. Took us 40 min to summit.
Prospect Mountain (Trestle Brook): 0.3 mile flat road walk to start of bushwhack, which was a another logging road. Followed logging road 0.1 mile then headed north through fairly open woods with some ferns, whippy young growth, and hobblebush. Last 0.2 miles to ridge was steep. Followed herd path along ridge 0.1 mile. Had to look behind us to find the jar. Took us 50 min to summit.
Norton Pool Peak: Followed another overgrown and muddy logging trail, then navigated east which transitioned to fairly open woods. Somewhat steep climb to subpeak and herd path to summit. Placed new register and pencils. Took us 40 min to summit.
