Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There were 3 cars parked when I arrived and quite a few more when I finished up. Plenty of room.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Ice - Breakable Crust, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The bridges were slick first thing this morning but as the day warmed up they dried out.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nothing at all!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw several very good doggos enjoying the incredible weather with their people. All were super well behaved. This is a good route for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: Believe it or not there were bugs today as the temps warmed up. One even landed on my glasses. Rude. Nothing biting, just flying around.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A woman mentioned she had lost a glove on her way up and asked me to watch for it as I descended. I didn't see it on the trail but when I got to the service road it was lying on a rock. Someone else must have found it. I hope they were reunited.

Comments
Comments: Now that I look like I have only gone 2 rounds with Mike Tyson and got the all clear from my doctor it was time to get back to my projects. I opted for an easy one that would be well trafficked and Moosilauke was a great choice. The trail was wet and soupy down low but most of the rocks were dry so the footing was good. All the bridges were frosty and slick so I just was cautious. Up higher around 3500 feet patches of ice started. They were sporadic and many were mixed with dirt which provided some traction. I just took my time. As I ascended there were more icy sections but nothing bad enough to warrant spikes. I had mine with me but they went for a ride. Things were melting out nicely upon my descent and I would imagine that a lot of the ice will be gone by tomorrow. Above treeline there was no ice and the winds were so gentle. On my descent I bumped into David S who had seen my car in the parking lot and was on the lookout for me. He assured me that he would haul me out if I took another nosedive on the rocks. I sure love my people! I am so grateful to be back in the mountains. What a day!
