Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nice snowmobile bridges
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail is in decent shape but there are no blazes to speak of, think I saw three extremely old and faded yellow large blazes on dead trees. Heavy leaf cover on the trail and had to use my skills to stay on it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: no water to before between the trailhead and the ponds
Bugs
Bugs: Yes some type of fly flew in my ear at the summit. I didn't like that.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There is a Croc shoe stuck on the trail signpost where the trial leaves the snomo tral, ha ha.

Comments
Comments: The 211 forest road looks like a private driveway off of route 118. The snowmobile trail is mowed and the bridges are wide and sturdy. Three Ponds Trail is in decent shape but lots of slippery leaf cover on the ground, no surprise. For all practical purposes there are no blazes and this wonderful lightly used trail's footbed can be difficult to follow. At highpoint of the trail I bushwhacked up to the ridge and climbed up through mostly open hardwoods but the flat part of the ridge gets a little thick with spruce but I snuck arond everything. The forested hilltop is interesting because it has a boggy pond surrounded by a rocky ridge. Fresh moose sign of poop and tracks, haven't seen that in a while. I found some broken glass that must have once been part of the original register. New jar was hung in '22 and few have signed in since, sad to not see the old book. Jar was dry but paper was damp. I replaced the zip lock bag with a new dry one. I went more straight down the hill to meet the trail and get closer to the pond. Once I hit the trial I no longer felt the need to visit the pond so I turned around and went back. Lots of hunters parked on Route 112 but none on 118 and surprised that no one was out hunting here at Hubble Brook/Three Ponds Trailhead. Last time I was here I followed the bloody path where hunter had dragged a deer.
