| Comments: |
The first brook crossing can be avoided by continuing past the official trailhead parking area onto the residential road which shortly turns to dirt. Take it to the end. There is plenty of parking. Looking toward the end of the road, hop onto the dirt track to the far right. It will take you right up to the Stoney Brook Trail in about ten minutes, avoiding the difficult water crossing, and shortening the length of the hike. Much of the trail was wet and muddy. Snowy/icy patches near the summit were mostly possible to navigate around. We didn't need any traction. Great day out with a friend! We met only one other hiker. She had gone in from the official trailhead and said the first water crossing remains difficult to negotiate. |
