| Comments: |
The early part of the trail is very muddy, Lots of Trillium and flowering trout lilies and tiny white flowers in the lower half. Muddy trail gave way to drier trail about one third of the way up. Met hikers coming down (early) who said we'd enjoy the snow on top! Which we did! Snow flurries began around 3500 feet, but from Starr King to Waumbek there was 1+" of snow on the trail making it quite slippy in spots. At the cairn the snow laden branches of a pine hung down over it making for a good picture! 2 first timers in our bunch of 6 OTHH hikers today. Good day out despite the cold and the drips from the trees which kept us somewhat damp. |
