Hot and humid conditions made this trail more difficult than it might otherwise be. Views from all outlooks and the southern cliffs are gorgeous -- make sure you go all the way to the end of this trail, don't stop at the summit. Old mining area is fun -- go left at the fork in the trail close to the southern cliffs (right for south cliffs, left for mining area). Cool cave near the bottom of the mining area (follow cairns carefully!).
We got hit with a bad storm on the way back to the car -- we sprinted down the last 0.5 miles...difficult to do on that steep and eroded trail, but lightning is one heck of a motivator.
Many thanks to Dave and super-adorable 10-month-old Alex for their enjoyable company.
Photos will be on my blog next Tuesday (August 7) and on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PatriciaEllisHerr) this evening. |
