Only room for two vehicles at the trailhead both of which were muddy. There were small spots to pull off of Sandwich Notch Road just to the east of the trailhead.
Sandwich Notch Road was a bit rough in places although it is passable for all vehicles from Diamond Ledge Road to the trailhead. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail in good condition. Only one tree fallen across trail at about 3 feet above the ground. Some muddy sections in sags could usually be crossed on rocks. The blazes and cairns generally proved adequate to follow the trail although a few turns in the trail were not prominently marked. |

There wasn't too much water on the ridge trail with the exception of a small pool near Mt Squam. |

 | Comments: |
The Crawford-Ridgepole trail was leaf covered on the slope coming up from the notch which was somewhat slippery on descent. The leaves also hid some underlying mud surfaces. One wet area was spanned by aging bog bridges that were still mainly intact and useful. A short section of trail in the col below the Doublehead Trail junction was quite wet with running water on the trail. Shortly thereafter the trail turns sharply and climbs steeply up some ledges with only a yellow ski trail marker high up on a tree to indicate the way.
There were great views of Squam Lake. Lots of hikers around Mt Percival and Mt Morgan otherwise only saw three other hikers. |
