Car spot hike today - spotted a car at Timberlands (Rt 80) and drove to the Bluff Head parking lot. Crossed Rt 77 to the Mattabasset trail, heading south. Over many ledges, lots of up and down. Beautiful foliage out there. Should have done this hike on Sunday, as there is hunting in the woods this time of year. Hiked 1.3 miles on Mattabasset trail to the junction of the Menuncatuck trail. 5.4 miles to the Timberlands parking lot for a total of 6.7 miles. Nice hike with my husband, sister and nephew. Met up with some trail runners marking the trail for a race the next day. Other than that - we didn't see anyone else. Excellent hike, well marked. |
