| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There is free parking across the street from the Tiverton Town Hall, a nondescript building at 343 Highland Rd. The trail starts to the left on paved road at first. |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
The cordurroy bridges are slippery when wet. The sign about a "washed out bridge" is overstated; the bridge is still there and can be crossed with care. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
It's probably best to stay on the red trail (blazed). There are more forks than the map seems to indicate, but it's hard to get lost if you're paying attention. There are a lot of leaves down on the trail with more to fall. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
If you don't like noises, you might not like it here (see comments). Stay with your humans, don't wander off trail. |

| Comments: |
The paved path leads up to the Revolutionary War Redoubt and a tower with a view over the Sakonnet River and Mt. Hope Bay. The unpaved trail begins at the back of that area. Steep parts have wooden staircases and rock steps. There are some nice streams. Don't be alarmed if you hear gunfire; there is no hunting in Fort Barton but the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club is adjacent and open for target practice. After you're done here if you want to hike some more, two nearby, no-hunting hiking areas are Emilie Ruecker Wildlife Refuge (Audubon Society; no dogs; 50 acres of woods and salt marsh), and Weetamoo Woods (450 acres; dogs, horses, and mountain bikes are allowed). |
