George B. Parker Woodland (Audubon Society of Rhode Island)
Beautiful day and it was cold to start. Came across a Black Crowned Night Heron in the Bog/Swamp area. Got a pic of that and came up on a White Tailed Deer (Doe) coming over a hill. I startled her as well as her startling me. She jumped up and was within 5 feet of me before doing another jump and stopping. I took a couple of shot of her. Beautiful deer. Saw some great woodpeckers on the Foster Tract. Ran into Jeff who hikes up in the White Mountains and ice climbs. We talked about our hikes up in the Whites this year. Great time. Best hiking trail in RI-7 miles |
