Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Spotted a car at the Route 6 crossing at Shady Acres Restaurant. The gravel part of the lot (where you are supposed to park according to the guide book) is pretty full of Davey Tree Service trucks and cars belonging to the Davey workers. Room enough for our car though. At North end of our section we parked at the George Washington Campground. Campground is closed for the season so not another car in sight.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing too difficult. A few places where you have to cross either big puddles or flooded road but you can walk on the skinny shoulder or on rocks and logs on the shoulder that somebody put there.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns on Old Kentuck Road. One you have to climb over and duckunder both, because there are two trunks across the trail. Can walk way around it too if you want. Also a Hemlock blowdown that you have to walk around on same part of trail. A lot of the trails are dirt roads that people can access with a vehicle and they find this a convenient way to get rid of trash. Piles of tires, a busted up projection TV, fiberglass boats sawed up into small pieces and a whole lot more.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A lot of houses you walk by had dogs that started barking or yapping. Most were tied or fenced. A couple weren't but they were friendly enough. Looks like you could bring a dog with you easy enough on this section.

Comments
Comments: Second section of our North to South trek of the North South trail, from Rt 44 to Rt 6. Most of the section consists of either paved road, unpaved road, abandoned dirt road, or logging road. 13.3 miles. Took us about 5.5 hours. We weren't running, and Ansel Adams wasn't stopping too much to take pictures.
