After snowshoeing the last few days of 2012 I barebooted and trail was nicely packed. Shoes vs. boots is usually a non-issue up here; its nice to see them when temps warm and trail softens before another long freeze. Tower section has lots of ice (currently well snow covered) and easily barebooted. I've used microspikes lately for more traction. New trail (this fall) connects Balance Rock to previously mentioned post; not broken out yet. Likely I've been here more recently than this report so if more current info desired email me and I'll try to help. Happy hiking 2013!!! Rescue of skier on Catamount Tr. occurred later today up here; glad to here all turned out well. |
