Comments
Comments: the long trail was broken out mostly by skis and loosely packed. ski trails a mix of loose and packed powder. crusty around the summit of jay. we used the ski trails to the top rather than the final section of the trail. the herd path to big jay was well travelled by backcountry skiers and nicely packed almost all the way to the summit before they turned down into the glades. another 25-50 yds to the summit from there over a roughly broken path. big red sled in a tree and old canister bracket, but no canister.

we wore snowshoes the whole hike.

great hike to the jays. loads of snow in the woods. some interesting driving to get up there this morning, but well worth it. the route is in great shape right now. awesome soft snowshoeing on the way back down to the pass. low visibility and no views, but beautiful in the woods. thanks to tom, mike and pat for a nice hike.
