 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We left two cars at the end of Lincoln Gap Road (where it is closed for winter) without any problems. We parked the other two cars along the edge of Jim Dwire Road at the Jeruslem Trailhead without any problems. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
There were no issues. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There were several large blowdowns that will have to be cleared by someone with a bigger saw than a small folding one. All were easy to duck under but some obscured the trail corridor and made route-finding interesting. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't see any dogs out on the trails today. |

 | Bugs: |

 | Lost and Found: |
Lost a black fleece Mountain Hardware hat somewhere. |

 | Comments: |
The plan was to go up Jerusalem Trail and then use the Long Trail to cross over the summits of Ellen, Abraham, and all of their friends before sledding down Lincoln Gap Road. We ended up changing our plans at Ellen - it was cloudy, cold, and windy. There was 12+ inches of fresh snow that we had to break out from Jim Dwire Road to the Mad River Glen Ski Area. We lost the trail in a few spots and we were moving slower than we had hoped so instead of pushing on in less than ideal conditions we decided to turn back at Ellen so we could go out and have a good meal in Waterbury. We did get a little sledding in along the upper ski trails since they were closed. Also had some opportunities to sled along the trail in the way back to our cars. |
