Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Tuesday, July 9, 2013
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of space for more cars today with about 10 already there by 10:30. Bottom of Haselton comes out at Gondola parking lot leaving one with about an easy 0.3 mile roadwalk.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No large crossings; some rock hopping on trails in wet sections.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One very large blowdown a short ways up from 108 on LT (climb over). Trails in fairly nice shape considering all the rain as of late. No sight of rerouting being done crossing 108 yet; caretaker told us it was in the GMC's plans. Nice signage where Haselton leaves the ski trails which could be nice for first timers here.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some out today. Plentiful water. Final climb to Chin may need some help.
Bugs
Bugs: Only spot we were bothered was on summit by variety of species.

Comments
Comments: Hiked locally on account of late afternoon obligations. Timing worked out perfectly as the skies opened up soon after reaching car. Sight of the day was seeing a lacrosse group with sticks, balls, cleats etc. near the top. I can only wonder why they brought the cleats up? As stated in other reports; some badly needed rain; that was the topic with all thruhikers we met today. Looking forward to the weekend.
