5 minute walk from parking to summer TH, wore microspikes up to just below taft lodge. The first section off 108 is a little hard but there are rocks sticking out of the ice to give traction. Switched to crampons which were overkill except above tree line the last bump up to the Chin is hard with mixed hard pack snow and blue ice. Was reminding myself that as my associate Wayniac likes to say falling is not an option, have asked Santa for an ice axe. Nice day sort of opened up on top. Been sick and then fell down in my driveway -- glad to get back on it. Snowshoes got a free ride today. |
