Comments: The Long Trail from Middlebury Gap

Wide variety of conditions from ice, rotten snow, mashed potato snow, a few deep drifts on lee side of ridge. Since I needed snow shoes in so many areas, I just left them on all day. Could hear the howling wind all day but didn't feel it in the woods. Saw no one all day. Some beautiful stretches along the Long trail and gorgeous views of the Champlain Valley when the ceiling lifted, especially at sunset..
