 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The last leg of Elder Hill Rd to the trailhead, after the sharp left-hand turn, isn't plowed very well and contains a large puddle with crusty ice. If you have a low-clearance car, you might want to get a running start to make it through.
At the trailhead proper, there's enough room for about a dozen or so cars. |

 | Comments: |
Up until the final summit scrambles, the trail conditions were frozen granular snow underneath a few inches of fresh powder. Up high, there was significant drifting. Trail finding was difficult near the Long Trail junction, but we eventually got it right. Wore spikes to near the junction; I wore snowshoes the rest of the way up and down, with my partner-in-crime wearing them the rest of the way up and most of the way down. Views from the top were excellent- overcast skies, but we could see all the way to Mt. Marcy in NY and into Quebec. Saw no one the whole time, man nor animal.
Thanks to Mike T. for a great hike! 52 down, 15 to go!
