The weather was overcast all day and quite cool for this hike. By the time I got to the summit the fog was so thick I could only see the tramway building when I was only a few feet from it, but I was able to follow the top part of the trail (after crossing the ski trail) because the white blazes on the rocks were frequent and easy to see. And it was very, very windy at the summit. This trail is steep in places but not really that difficult because there always seemed to be a logical place to put your next step, even on the ledges. It was much harder for me going down but still not too difficult.
I had hoped to also tag Big Jay, but with the fog so thick I wasn't about to undertake a bushwhack or even a herd path that wasn't marked. The weather just did not cooperate, so I'll need to go back again to do Big Jay. The next day the weather was perfect, but I needed to get home. |
