Trails were a bit wet in the woods but dry on the final ascent where it's needed. It was cool (~ 50F) and very blustery on top - especially on the final push on the LT from the south. Only four other folks on the summit when I got there just after noon but I passed many ascending the Monroe Trail as I descended - including two fellows out for an afternoon run in bare feet (!)
The worst of the weather had passed earlier in the morning but clouds wouldn't let go - however they were high enough so that views still could be had. Not an ideal day for this wonderful peak but still a fun one nevertheless. |
