Comments
Comments: First portion of the Red Trail was a well packed snowmobile trail. At height of land, Red Trail departed snowmobile trail (small sign). Fairly well blazed upon crossing Connector Trail. Unfortunately, also very bad postholed for almost a mile until the Northeast Kingdom Postholing Champion ended his training run. Above there, light trail breaking up to the shelter. Red Trail continues on the side of the shelter - easy to miss (and instead go straigh onto blue blazed trail to west peak). Lots of skier traffic from there up to the Summit Trail junction. No recent traffic on Summit Trail (ducked off it a few times due to low branches). Superb views from the fire tower, including Presidentials, Franconias, etc. Took ski trails down in the interest of time and avoiding posthole city.
