Bugs
Bugs: Extreme. Blackflies were horrible even on the summit, and I had bugs trying to crawl into my eyes and burrow into my ears. One did manage to land a bite deep inside my ear canal; saw a doctor today about it.

Comments
Comments: The hike was an up-and-back along the LT from Lincoln Gap to the summit of Mt Abe. Weather was perfect for the hike, but rain from Wednesday evening left the trail very wet in most places, with standing and running water very much a problem. The chutes just below the summit on the south side were dry, thanks to abundant sun. The most vexing problem was the bugs, this is the worst I have ever seen them. DEET is strongly recommended, probably face and head netting as well.
