Pretty easy hike. I was alone to the top. It was snowing and it had been for a few hours so it was soft granular on top of a hard base. A guy had bare booted a day or two before, so there were several post-holes I had to deal with. I had my snowshoes the entire hike. Some wind when the Long Trail starts, but nothing major. No views at the top.
On my descent I met several hikers going up, most with just microspikes. The trail was very well packed down by the time I was finished. A couple was planning on skiing up.
Fun day! 3 hours and 30 minutes total time for me since I had a gradual ascent while I was breaking trail (just a few inches). Easily could be done in 3 hours or less. 3.5 miles and about 2,300 elevation. |
