A beautiful day to hike Pico. We took the Sherburne Pass Trail to where it meets the ski slopes, then took the slopes all the way to the top, following a herd path in the grass. The summit, which is kind of disappointing, is a small mound of dirt next to a water pump.
On the way down we took the steep, rocky, eroded, Pico Link down to the Pico Camp. From there we followed Sherburne Pass Trail the last 2.5 miles back to the car.
#97 of the New England Hundred Highest. Just Stratton and the Jays left! |
