Great roadside parking, as Jim Dyre Rd just got a fresh coat of gravel |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction, Snowshoes |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A few small streams below and in the private sugarbush that Jerusalem goes thru |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
We cut a few blowdowns. You'll brush some spruce and fir limbs on the LT, as the snow is 2' deep and the trail is not clipped for true winter hiking |

| Comments: |
I hope folk wear snowshoes at least descending on this upcoming warm weekend. Not a lot of postholes on the warmer, lower section of Jerusalem Trail yet.
This was our third attempt on Ellen in two weeks. First failed as the LT was too soft to get north of Little Abe, and wiggling thru the limbs was slow. Second failed as we hiked south of App Gap and Theron Dean Shelter until my 18-year-old snowshoe broke. Success on the last full day of Winter! |
