Let Woodford Hollow trailhead on May 11 and returned May 13 via road walk from Bear Wallow Trailhead (Rt. 9 is a bit scary with fast traffic). Light snow the night of May 11 at the Goddard Shelter (3 others camped there). Because the Long and West Ridge trails mainly follow ridges, they were mostly dry. Bald Mountain only has partial views but is a nice place to camp if you don't mind hauling water up (both Bear Wallow spring, and a spring 0.7 miles down the trail to Bennington were running.) |
