Downloaded the hiking map from the report's page. Thanks to the resort for being hiker friendly.
Based on the map, we had planned to ascend via the Wildlands (F) and Alpine (E) trails. This would have involved a combination of ski trails and some pathes in the woods between ski trails. However, construction blocked easy access to F and E. We ended up following mostly service roads up on a trace south (to the left ) of F and E that someone had posted to AllTrails. Starting just above the lodge at the top gondola station the short spur trail to the summit is a true hiking trail. Coming down we took Warbler (C) which follows service roads by design.
Saw three groups of hikers. There were many mountain bikers, but not on the same pathes as us. At the summit, we saw the blue blazes for the spur leading west to the LT/AT. We would have come up from that side, but couldn't due to time constraints. |
