Trail in great shape, herd path to Big Jay is clear and definitely muddy during most of the year. |

Hoped to avoid the mud sucking pits en route to Big Jay by hiking later in the season and I was mostly successful though there were a few foot dunks when nearly back to the trail. Note that this hike requires caution now through winter since Jay Peak is an active ski zone. |
