Snow shoes start to finish. Mostly followed ski tracks up Jerusalem and across the ridge. We stayed with them when they left the Long Trail for easier walking as the Long Trail the rest of the way was unbroken. When the ski tracks hit the slopes we headed back towards the Long Trail and had a bit of fun bushwhacking to find it again. Had some work to get through the unbroken drifts to where the trail hit the top of the ski slope. Took the Long Trail back and broke it out to where we had left it earlier. Met a hiker with only microspikes on our way back who was postholing significantly in the soft snow. We fixed some of the damage with our 2 sets of tracks but expect there was more damage done on their way back. |
