Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Wednesday, February 9, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: North Parking Lot is plowed, but there was a lot of loose snow at the entrance. Did not have a shovel and was worried about my low car, so drove past and parked at the bottom of the owl's head road, which is plowed with space for about 3 cars. Did a loop from there.

Comments
Comments: Great conditions, had a hard time figuring out where to park and start as I had not hiked this trail before. The trail is supposed to leave from New Discovery Campground, which is not plowed. The North Lot, nearby, was plowed but lots of snow at the entrance. I did not have a shovel, went by to turn around and found the bottom of Owl's Head road (summer access) was plowed and people were snowshoeing up from there. We did a loop with the OH road, then the Owl's Head Trail down, then the main road back to the car. Was told by someone that Big Deer was not broken out yet. This loop was well broken out and perfect for snowshoes-not quite hard enough for spikes alone. Lovely Day.
