Comments
Comments: Well jerusalem trail was nicely packed out and we had snowshoes on all day. Once we hit the long trail, there were drifts that made the 1 guy we saw non existent. When the ski trail boundary hit the long trail before Ellen it all got mixed up and threw us out on the ski trail instead of staying on the long trail. Therefore we went up the trail quick to hit Ellen and went back into the woods. After Ellen it looks like it has not been touched for a while at least since the last storm. So long and slow breaking out the trail and drifts. From about 6-8” to over my knees. When we hit the casterock chair, which was not running, we realized skiers are now using the long trail…. This was nerve racking. We were going up (fully on the long trail) and skiers were coming at us on a very narrow trail. Every time we hit a peak and headed down thankfully everyone had to take their skis/boards off and walk uphill while we went down. The trail got obscured again right before lincoln peak due to the ski marks. We hit that ski trail and went up the moguls quick sadly the sign they had about the ski trail/long trail open to uphill to get to castlerock, they did not mention watch for hikers on the hiking trail. Once we went up to lincoln peak deck in a snow squall we went back to breaking trail. Soon after we saw our 2nd hiker for the day and thankfully helped break for a short distance! We made it to abraham and then another highway all the way back down to the car. It was just about 9.5 miles long.
