Comments
Comments: We started early to try and take advantage of firm snow, but it didn't freeze over night. The whole trail had been bare booted; that was okay initially, but as we ascended the mountain the post holes were often knee deep and sometimes thigh deep. Part way up, we donned our snowshoes and this was a good move. Once we got to exposed ledges, we stashed the snowshoes and continued on. Not the best decision we've made. That being said, there was probably no good solution to the postholes / exposed rock for the last mile or so. We reached the summit just as some fellows were getting there from the other side. We had lunch down closer to the signs and a snowboarder came up out of the ski area. Once we got back to the snowshoes, we wore them the whole way down.
