Barton Mountain and Hedgehog Mountain
Bushwhacks
Barton Mountain- we followed a logging/snomo trail almost to the summit and then whacked through open woods, finding jar with only one name in the register. Needs a new jar and pen/pencil.
Hedgehog Mt.- We walked the Lond Pond Trail to the south side of the mountain, found very steep cliffs, continued onto the west side over and through boulder fields. Turned back and found an opening in the cliffs that looked like an old trail or a herd path. The climb was made difficult by the fresh snow that had fallen the day before. It was a steep climb up the cliff edge, got the ridge line walked north through open woods finding the summit jar, again an old leaky jar with one name on the register. Returned to the long Pond Trail via the north side that proved to be a more gradual decent off the mountain. |
