After a short walk on the Bald Mountain Trail, we veered off onto a well-maintained logging road. We followed the road for about a mile and then headed into the woods, making for the ridge, climbing gradually to the beautiful summit with lots of views to the south and east. We found a trail marked with a small sign (Black Fly run and Bike). We followed the trail down the mountain, where it descended onto the ledges facing Bald. We skirted along the ledges, and soon picked up our inbound track. No snow and full sun made this a spectacular day of hiking with good companions. |
