 | Comments: |
We parked along FR 54 and road walked along FR 59 to Skylight Pond Tr. We opted to wear snowshoes the entire time. There wasn't much snow on FR 59. Maybe 5 - 6 inches. The bottom half of Skylight Pond Tr didn't have much snow and we could have gotten away with spikes. Maybe 4 inches. Our snowshoes were discovering many rocks in the trails. There was a river crossing that we managed to cross using some rocks, debris, and a partial downed log. The second major river crossing had a bridge. The upper half of Skylight Pond Tr had more snow. The Long Tr had a decent amount of snow but there were some spots that had some wet pockets under the snow. We had some navigational trouble around Breadloaf. Breaking trail while searching for white blazes in open woods is a difficult task. Best to bring a gps device.
The Emily Proctor Tr was not broken out. 7 of us with snowshoes broke out the trail to Breadloaf and Wilson. |
