A cold, sparkling day. Views for miles and a fantastic undercast viewable from just below the summit and on the side of the ski trail. It was windy on the ridge, in particular where the woods open some near the ski trail. Blaze and trail finding was a bit difficult in that area with wind blown snow on trees and footprints obliterated [why we should carry snowshoes!].
If anyone wants to hike these trails, now would be a great time. Never needed snowshoes, there were a few old snowshoe postholes on the ridge, but the majority of the trail is well packed and fast. You will definitely want some form of traction for icy areas. |
