| Hiking Trail Conditions Report | | | Peaks | Stowe Pinnacle, VT | | | | | Trails: | Stowe Pinnacle Trail | | |
|
| | Date of Hike: | Monday, January 16, 2023 | | | | | Parking/Access Road Notes: | Lower lot plowed and dirt on top reducing potential ice slide into ditch. | | | | | Surface Conditions: | Ice - Black, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Postholes | | | | | Recommended Equipment: | Light Traction | | | | | Water Crossing Notes: | | | | | | Trail Maintenance Notes: | One leaner less than 5 minutes in. One of few trails where you could probably follow trail by using only blazes. | | | | | Dog-Related Notes: | One I met had bled from paw basically from start to finish; not a lot but just a reminder that cold and hard crusty surfaces may be an issue on their paws. | | | | | Bugs: | | | | | | Lost and Found: | Finally a good ending to a lost and found. Reunited a young lady (her birthday as well today) with a Leki hiking pole that had fallen out of her pack. From NJ and a couple minutes later wouldn't have happened. Broke a string of lost, found and attempted returns for myself. | | |

| | | | Comments: | Microspikes definitely the way to go today; crampons not an overkill in a few sections. Lots of 2-4 inch frozen post holes from a hike on Friday. Not an issue today as one could see them but 3-6 inches of powder snow could hide them making for some misery later on. Hopefully it will fill and freeze when we do get more snow. | | | | | Name: | franco | | | | | E-Mail: | | | | | | Date Submitted: | 2023-01-16 | | | | | Link: | https:// | | | | Disclaimer: Reports are not verified - conditions may vary.
