Drove Coles Pond Road and parked at a pullout that's plowed, enough for 2-3 vehicles, just before the sign, "Class 4 Rd, travel at your own risk."

Bog Brook is iced over in places, so we picked our crossing carefully. |

After parking our two vehicles we walked east on Cole's Pond Rd., passing Top of the Mountain Vegetable Farm and Cafe. George the owner greeted us and told us when we come back to stop by and have a cup of coffee. We agreed and continued walking the road until we saw a red gate on the left. We walked around the gate and headed into the woods, walking north to avoid the steep cliffs on the west side of the mountain. It was an easy up from the north. We followed our tracks back down the mountain returning to the cafe to have lunch and that cup of coffee waiting for us. I'm looking forward to returning to hike Fairbanks Mill Mountain and have another cup of coffee with George. |
