It was a beautiful day for a hike and I was glad that Per "twisted my arm" to join him. We had brought our snowshoes, not knowing how much snow the Green Mountains got last night, but when we were able to drive up to the summer parking lot we decided to leave them in the car. The snow never amounted to more than a couple of inches.
A group of four hikers were ahead of us and their tracks in the fresh snow had drawn up the water from the wet trails. With the cold weather ahead one might need light traction. At the jct. with the Burrow trail we layered up for the brisk wind on top. The wind on the summit, however, had weakend and it was not too bad. If you read Drew Peterson's report from his Ethan Allen hike yesterday you get any idea of the view we had. |
