Good trail surface, some drinkable water still. One dog on the hill. |

2"-4" snow on the trail, ice bulges starting to form higher up. Barebooted to the "hut clearing", microspikes from there. met about 10 hikers. Some folks were barebooting and just bypassing the worst ice.
Rime starting to coat trees near treeline, but overall, great hiking conditions. Summit temp 11F @ 1p.m., 5-10 mph wind. Great visibility, especially toward the Whites. Saw fresh bear tracks crossing the trail on the way down. Realized I had climbed this mtn. the same date in 2000, there was even less snow that day ! |
