At the small, newly built parking area I followed a small stream almost to the ridge line of Lowell. The wind towers droned away as I made my way through open woods. By keeping close to the stream, I was able to avoid areas of cut-over with thick brambles and downed trees. When I got the ridge and the wind tower road. I walked the road in a southerly direction. At one wind tower with a fantastic view of the Greens, there was a kiosk explaining the history and future of the wind tower project by Green Mountain Power. Continuing on the road I found the high point and scrambled up a steep slope, whacking through thick woods and found the summit and jar. I signed in and returned to my car using the same route. Even though I was hiking in the rain with a heavy cloud cover the views were terrific. |
