After pulling off the road we ducked into the woods, breaking trail in about 1 ft. of snow. Hiked up the the power lines and followed to the height of land where we headed east to Wilke Mountain. We could not find the jar after searching for some time. Lots of snow hanging from trees so we could have missed it, but we hung a new jar at the high point. We hiked back to the power line and made our way to the ridge line of Harris. We whacked through a beautiful old forest that hadn't been logged off in some time. We found the summit jar, labeled "Shoe Fly Trail Run". Geoff and I signed in and recognized a few names: Bryan, Zack, and Dean. Set a bearing down the mountain directly to our truck. We followed flagging for some time which I assume is the Shoe Fly course. We made it back to the truck in plenty of timebefore the rain set in. |
