Comments
Comments: No one else showshoeing for awhile. Backcountry skiers packed down just short of Taft lodge. Had fresh snow over their tracks, which are narrower than showshoes, a little awkward as snow was frozen. Packed out trail just before Taft Lodge to peak. About 4 inches new on bottom to about 8 up top. Overall around a foot on bottom with 3 feet up top. Plenty of spruce traps to watch for. Hard for me going solo to stay on trail but managed to be close, with more snow today it may not matter. Last 1/4 mile before ridge was rough looking for trail but managed, ice ax could help pull yourself up on the start of ridge but I managed with poles. Used my Evo Ascents which are perfect above treeline, crusty on top. NO cairns but mother nature provided one snow cairn. Someone bare booted to Taft after me, made it rough going down, need more showshoe traffic.
